V.E.T.I. Distance Learning Program

Distance learning courses allow students the freedom to take a course at their convenience.  The only requirements are a computer, fast internet access and a desire to learn.  To succeed in the online classroom students must take responsibility for their own learning.  V.E.T.I. classes are seven weeks in length and involve reading, writing, interacting with other online students and tests.  Classes may also include video and audio lessons.  Students should expect to put in at least 6 hours of work per week for each 3 unit course.  All classes will take place online at www.VETIOnline.com and not in a physical classroom.  Course fee is $125.00.  There are no discounts for online courses. Online classrooms are limited to the first 25 students who register.

 

The next online session begins on the week of Monday, March 15th, 2010 (starting at 12:01 AM PST) and continues for seven weeks. Please be sure to visit "The V.E.T.I. Network" to find out and order the required textbook for your course today. The instructor will be available online one night of the week from 7pm – 10 PM pacific standard time.  The course description below contains the evening the instructor will be available online.  Students are encouraged to be online when the instructor is online.   The instructor will also be available via email and will respond to student questions within 24 hours.   Students have the choice of either logging in when the instructor is available or anytime during the week. The only requirement is that all assignments must be completed the midnight before the next sessions begins (within seven days).

 

A week before the class begins and after successful registration students will receive a username and password.   At that time students can log in and access the course syllabus (to find out the book requirements) get familiarized with the virtual classroom or begin accessing the course orientation information.

  Research and Writing - Research and writing skills are vital to effective communication. This course is designed to enhance a student’s ability to do effective research as well as develop proper writing skills. Students will learn correct grammar, spelling and vocabulary to enhance writing style. Also covered will be the writing process, the three steps of resourcing and drafting & revising. Students will also learn how to find information as well as how to include that research into their writing. An introduction to library research skills will be included along with a list of research resources to assist the student in writing projects.

  Introduction To Missions - This course provides an introduction to the biblical and historical perspective of mission. Missiological terminology, contextualization, integration of mission concepts (glocal movements), and the importance of the body of Christ working together to fulfill the Great Commission will be examined. The development of a "missional" mindset within each context of urban, cross cultural and world mission will be discussed. We will survey "Missio Dei" (The Mission of God) in both the Old and New Testaments. We will also examine Victory Outreach International as an urban mission model.
